Dr. Karl Saunders oversees the business operations and general management of Orthopaedic Associates of Zanesville. He has been with the practice since 1981 and has served as president since 1993.
Dr. Saunders graduated with honors from Duke University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, earned his Doctor of Medicine from The Ohio State University College of Medicine, and obtained his Master of Business Administration from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
As an orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Saunders has a special interest in the care of arthritis, joint replacement surgery, hand surgery, anterior hip replacement, and sports injuries. He is also a fellow in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons and a member of the Ohio State Medical Association.
Dr. Saunders has a special interest in martial arts and music.
Dr. William Allen has been in practice at Orthopaedic Associates of Zanesville since his arrival here in 1991. He is board certified in Orthopaedic Surgery, practicing General Orthopaedic Surgery with interests in hip, knee & shoulder replacement, hand and foot & ankle surgery, fractures and arthroscopy.
He obtained his undergraduate B.S. degree in Biology from Westminster College in 1982, and received his M.D. degree from the Ohio State University College of Medicine in 1986. He then completed an internship and residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Akron General Medical Center and Children's Hospital Medical Center of Akron, Ohio.
Dr. Allen is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, a former examiner for the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, and a board member of Quality Care Partners and Ohio Integrated Care Partners.
Dr. Allen has been a team physician for local high school football programs since 1991, initially at West Muskingum High School for 15 years and then at Tri Valley High School since. He enjoys mentoring & teaching, and is actively involved with students from P.A., P.T., P.T.A., & nursing programs.
He and his wife have four children. They are very active members of North Terrace Church of Christ in Zanesville, have been 4H advisors for over 10 years, and have hosted a number of exchange students.
Being an avid runner, he has competed in many local races and marathons throughout the country. His other hobbies include boating, skiing, camping and traveling with his family, automotive repairs & restoration, construction & woodworking, and being a hobby farmer.
Dr. Steven Kimberly completed his undergraduate degree at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. Kimberly received his Doctor of Medicine from The Ohio State University College of Medicine, graduating Cum Laude. He completed his residency in the Grand Rapids Orthopaedic Surgery Program and has been with Orthopaedic Associates of Zanesville since 1995.
Kimberly specializes in general orthopaedics, total joint replacements, including partial knee replacements, carpal tunnel and fracture care. Dr. Kimberly is also a member of the Ohio Orthopaedic Society, a member of the Ohio State Medical Association and a fellow for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
He and his wife have two children and are active members of First Christian Church in Zanesville.
Dr. Brad Brautigan has been with Orthopaedic Associates of Zanesville since 2000. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from West Virginia Wesleyan College. He graduated Doctor of Medicine in 1994 from West Virginia University. Brautigan completed his orthopaedic residency at Summa Health System in Akron, Ohio, and his sports medicine fellowship at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky. Dr. Brautigan is a member of the Ohio State Medical Association and a fellow in the American Academy of Orthopaedic surgeons.
Dr. James Gasparine joined the Orthopaedic Associates of Zanesville team in August 2011. Dr. Gasparine graduated Magna Cum Laudewith a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from West Virginia Wesleyan University. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from West Virginia University graduating in the top quarter of his class. Dr. Gasparine completed his family medicine residency at the University of South Florida, where his concentration was on nutrition, weight loss and athletic performance. He completed a sports medicine fellowship at West Virginia University.
Dr. Gasparine is board certified in family medicine and sports medicine. He is the head sports physician for Tri-Valley High School & Muskingum University. His additional experience includes working in a medical tent for the70.3 World Ironman and being a team physician for the arena football league team, Tampa Bay Storm. He has worked with division I collegiate athletes in various sports.
Dr. Gasparine is trained to treat and understand the specific needs and concerns of athletes. His main focus is safely returning the athlete to "get back in the game". Dr. Gasparine can customize a recovery plan that yields better results in a shorter amount of time.
Dr. Gasparine’s other areas of specialties include sports related concussions, sports injury prevention, osteoporosis and fracture care.
Dr. Gasparine is a member of the American Medical Society of Sports Medicine. His hobbies include golf, power lifting, Jiu Jitsu and playing the piano. He and his wife have one child and are active members of Westwood Baptist Church in Zanesville.
Dr. Falk joined Orthopaedic Associates, Inc. in August of 2017. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Akron with a combined Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Sciences and Chemistry. Dr. Falk was awarded a Doctor of Medicine degree from Northeastern Ohio Medical University in 2012. She obtained her 5 year Orthopaedic Residency at Summa Health Care Systems in Akron, Ohio, June of 2017.
Dr. Falk is excited to return home, as she is a native of Byesville and will provide Orthopaedic services for those in the surrounding areas.
Dr. Falk is affiliated with SEORMC, Genesis Healthcare and Northpointe Surgical Suites. She will be accepting new patients at Orthopaedic Associates and Southeastern Med.
Dr. Falk is a member of The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Medical Association and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society in 2012. She is also a member of the Stop Nine Church of Christ in Byesville.
Her many hobbies and interests includes: golfing, snowboarding, drawing, and spending quality time with her husband and new baby.
Dr. Robert Thompson joined Orthopaedic Associates of Zanesville in May 2017. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1972 from the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Thompson's internship was at Montefiore Hospital. In 1976, he completed his residency training at the University of Pittsburgh, Neurology.
Dr. Thompson is a member of the Muskingum County Medical Academy, Ohio State Medical Association and American Academy of Neurology.
Dr. Thompson's hobbies are golfing, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren. He and his wife have 3 children and 9 grandchildren. They are members of St. Nicholas Catholic Church.
Dr. Pulley grew up in Lancaster, New York and attended The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio for his undergraduate studies, where he graduated cum laude and earned a Bachelor of Science with honors. He received his Doctor of Medicine from Wake Forest School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and subsequently performed his orthopaedic residency training at Mount Carmel Health System in Columbus, Ohio.
Dr. Pulley completed additional fellowship training at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California with a focus on orthopaedic trauma, hip reconstruction, and hip preservation surgery. He maintains a special interest in fractures of the pelvis and acetabulum, as well as multiple extremity trauma, and complex periarticular and long bone fractures. He has special training in direct anterior total hip joint replacement as well as hip joint preservation techniques, including periacetabular osteotomy.
Dr. Pulley is excited to be returning to Ohio with his wife and three young children. He enjoys trail running, cycling, and exploring the National Parks with his family.
Christopher Bernett attended Pennsylvania State University, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in physiology in 1996. Bernett went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree in physician assistance at D’Youville College in Buffalo, New York. Before joining Orthopaedic Associates of Zanesville in 2008, he practiced orthopaedics in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Bernett has 13 years of experience with total joint replacements, arthroscopies, hand, foot and ankle surgery, as well as trauma care.
Crista Berry is a certified physician assistant. In 2009 she graduated Magna Cum Laude from Mount Vernon Nazarene University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Following this, she obtained a Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Marietta College. She has been employed at OAZ since 2011. Berry diagnoses and treats a variety of orthopaedic conditions, manages postoperative care and assists in surgeries.
Blake Smith is a board certified physician assistant and joined the OAZ team in 2014. Blake graduated from the College of Wooster in 2010 with his Bachelors of Arts in Chemistry. Then in 2013, he graduated from Cuyahoga Community College/Cleveland State University with his Masters of Science in Health Sciences. He is also a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and Physician Assistants in Orthopaedic Surgery.
Sara Saft joined Orthopaedic Associates in 2014. As a board certified physician assistant, Saft has extensive experience in general orthopaedic care including fractures, osteoarthritis, total joint replacements and acute sports and non-sports related injuries. She holds a Bachelor of Science and Masters of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Marietta College and is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.
Stephen Koppes joined the Orthopaedic Associates team in 2011 and is a physician’s assistant. A proud graduate of The Ohio State University, Mr. Koppes also earned his masters of science in health sciences at Cuyahoga Community College/Cleveland State University. He has previously served as a certified athletic trainer in his spare time and has experience working with high school athletes. He recently became an avid runner who can be seen training for and competing in half marathons.
Lucas Graham joined the Orthopedic Associates team in 2018 and is a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. A proud graduate of Denison University, Mr. Graham received his Bachelor of Arts in Athletic Training & Sciences. After graduating Ohio University- Zanesville with his RN degree, Lucas went on to earn his Masters of Science in Nursing (FNP) at The Toledo University.
As a native of Zanesville, Lucas looks forward to treating both sports-related and non-sports related injuries for people of all ages. His areas of specialties include sports related injuries, sports injury prevention, osteoporosis, and fracture care.
Lucas enjoys staying active in the community and his hobbies include CrossFit, Outdoor Sports, and enjoying time with family and friends. Lucas is an active member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
Randall S. Toth, PA-C joined the Orthopaedic Associates team in 2019 and is a board-certified Physician Assistant. Mr. Toth received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Gannon University. He then went on to earn his Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies at Ohio Dominican University.
As a previous college football athlete, Randall has a passion for the medicine of orthopaedics. He enjoys working will all patients needing orthopaedic care in osteoarthritis, total joint replacement, fractures, as well as acute injuries. His hobbies include weightlifting and playing the guitar.
